In 2006 opende de voormalige Dekenfabriek aan de Marktsteeg in Leiden zijn deuren als de culturele hotspot van Leiden. In de beginselen was het Scheltema Leiden die de culturele programmering voorzag van de bijhorende horeca en catering. Met een cultureel café aan de voorzijde van het pand en een restaurant in het oude Ketelhuis was er voor de bezoekers de mogelijkheid om voor en na een voorstelling een hapje te eten of een drankje te doen.
