Drie feesten, en niemand die telt. Een bruiloft met meer dan één feest is geen dag. Een henna-avond, een ceremonie, een feest — of kına, nikah en düğün — elk met een eigen gastenlijst en een eigen avond. De producten die hier verkocht worden kennen één dag en één lijst; de rest heet dan “extra dag 1, 2, 3”. Het werk dat daardoor overblijft, doet zelden het paar zelf. Dat doet wie er toevallig naast staat — een zus, een broer, een vriendin — aan de telefoon, met vierhonderd namen op een vel papier en de vraag wie waarheen komt. Dit is voor die persoon geschreven, en voor het paar dat over haar schouder meeleest. We zijn een klein team. Dat is hier eerder een voordeel dan een gebrek: er zit geen afdeling tussen de vraag en het antwoord, en niemand hoeft ons te overtuigen dat een tweede feest een eigen lijst heeft.
